Amanera Hotel-North Coast
This time again, The Voyages Guide group has set its sights on a small tropical paradise to provide you with an extraordinary golf and relaxation stay. A setting of luxury and intimacy in the heart of a Dominican Republic which has often suffered from mass tourism. Far from the resorts of Punta Cana and La Romana, your hotel is located on the north coast which has remained a wild place where nature still imposes its rights.
Welcome to Amanera…
Overlooking a kilometer-long beach and benefiting from a spectacular golf course at the top of a cliff, the Amanera is the promise of a “green” and relaxing holiday, between jungle scents and iodized spray.
The Playa Grande course was one of the last designed by Robert Trent Jones before his death in 2000. It is located next to a residential complex on the northern coast of the Dominican Republic, with some calling it a “pebble beach of the Caribbean”. .”
There are actually more beachfront holes than Pebble Beach – ten in total – and they are spread along the cliffs to the west of Playa Grande and Playa Precioso beaches. The front nine measures a total of 3,353 yards and the pick of these holes is the 177-yard 7th, played on a green that lies beyond a rocky cove.
Two par fives stand out on the last nine; the 447-yard 12th offers golfers an exciting course across a vast expanse of ocean and the 539-yard 18th is a beautiful double doglegged hole.
Rees Jones (son of the original architect) and Bryce Swanson completed a complete renovation of Playa Grande in 2015. The greens and bunkers were completely renovated and part of the back nine was re-routed to provide a thrilling finish to the edge of the ocean.
Sun, good golf and of course even more…

The Voyages Guide invites you to the Amanera hotel which offers luxury, quality and relaxation, and also a ten-hole course running along the coast for more than six kilometers and extending over nearly 400 hectares.
During your stay as golfers or companions you can discover the region by taking a boat trip in Laguna Gri Gri and its calm waters bordered by mangroves. Also, the north coast can be explored on horseback, and take you to the heart of forests, plantations and along the beaches.
It’s an Island… so while your golfing friends are having fun on the green, you’re embarking on a morning at sea in search of its inhabitants, big and small! The captain takes you fishing for blue marlin and tuna or to admire the migration of humpback whales from January to March.
If you are a lover of the late and elegant art of living, The Voyages Guide will introduce you to authentic Caribbean cigars from Babunuco, in the neighboring town of Cabrera during an evening organized by a master cigar maker. An enriching and entertaining experience that includes dinner, tasting and conversation about variations of Caribbean cigars, from the Dominican Republic to Cuba.
And before or after a course, or to wait for your companion to arrive, the spa pavilion has been designed as a sanctuary of tranquility, surrounded by the Dominican jungle and perched on the top of a cliff.
And in the evening, enjoy dinner with your feet in the sand, a cocktail or old rum at sunset on the hotel’s roof terrace, tasting local gastronomy in the elegant restaurant in the central pavilion.
Brighten up your taste buds with the colors and flavors of a Taino yucca or a mango typical of the Dominican Republic!
