Today you have everything of a great…
Your driver takes you to another great course, designed for real competition… in a few words we present it to you:
The Faldo Course at Mission Hills is China’s first “stadium course” and features the region’s only island green at the par-3 16th. Measuring nearly 7,000 yards from the back tees, it’s highlighted by mounding and earthen amphitheatres to improve the spectator experience. The 16th hole and drivable par-4 15th are two of Asia’s most exciting holes and have played significant roles in many tournament outcomes. It is home to the annual Grand Final for the premier junior golf circuit on the continent, the Faldo Series Asia.
This morning heading to the Pete Dye course which is his first project in China. It offers a marked change from the other 11 layouts at Mission Hills, providing the golfer with a unique look. At just over 6,800 yards and a par 72, it is short by today’s standards and requires creative shots. Easily accessible on foot, golfers encounter many features long associated with Dye courses: small bunkers, a long tee shot to green waste areas, railroad ties used as sleepers, and walkway steps framed by tall native grasses to provide a sharp visual contrast. The greens are very hilly, especially on the many short par 4s.
This morning The Voyages Guide will take you to Dongguan, on the Pearl River Delta. You will discover one of these great Chinese megacities and especially a course designed by Jose Maria Olazabal…A day full of golf discovering a new world…In a few words, here is what awaits you:
José María Olazabal’s career represents the highest level of the club. It is played over a distance of more than 7,300 meters and is the home of the Omega Mission Hills World Cup. It has 151 bunkers (including 24 on No. 15 alone). All of this reflects Olazabal’s reputation as a master of the sand wedge. The course introduces you to numerous majestic views of the untouched jungle and natural streams, which create exceptional scenery throughout the golf course. The numerous deep bunkers as well as its undulating fairways are two distinctive elements of this true championship course.
And finally, to reassure you about the quality of this installation, know that the Olazabal course hosted the Omega Mission Hills World Cup 2007, 2008 and 2009, often called the “Olympics of golf”.
This morning you leave Shenzhen for Hong Kong and this wonderful stay in China comes to an end…
And will surely see you again soon…
